E-Ticketing is being introduced to facilitate the private transport operators and commuters that will be helpful in preventing pilferages in fare collection system and to ascertain the subsidy being given to the private transport operators in transparent manner.

This is the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif that he has always stressed on the importance of Public transport as well as on bringing revolutionary changes for rectification of whole system. Today E-Ticketing is being introduced in urban transport system that is deemed as milestone and will be proved as role model for other cities in Pakistan. This public friendly and cost effective system would encourage the foreign investors to make investment in urban transport system.

With the use of e ticketing the transport operators will be preventing pilferage of revenue. In accordance with the E- Ticketing system passengers travelling on the buses will apprise the conductor about the desired destination. The conductor will type it into the handheld device, which will give a ticket printout for the passenger. The device will be equipped with WiFi, GPRS and GPS, so it will send real time data in respect of number of passengers to a centralized computer monitoring system for fare collection analysis.
